Around the World in 80 Shaves: Germany

    Böker 201 Extra Hollow
    Tabac cream, whipped with badger
(No a/s on the shelf from the motherland, so plain ol' Aqua Velva musk to finish.)
Not the most incredible shave, but DFS, nonetheless.

Having compared a handful of the inexpensive tube creams, I'm discovering that I'm not such a big fan of Tabac. The scent is light, with bright floral notes, but there's an overtone to it that rings of something artificial, like an essence of plastic or synthetic rubber. Hard to describe. (Your experience may differ, of course!)

A tube of Proraso Red arrived yesterday. Smells intoxicating; can't wait to try it. Here's a promotional blurb from the packaging, which I think you'll all appreciate:

"Shaving is a daily ritual for Italian men, a moment of pleasure devoted to oneself. Proraso supports the professionals who have turned shaving into a veritable cult."

    Happy Thursday!

    Pre shave - Arko
    Razor - Merkur 34c
    Blade - 7 o'clock 'yellows'
    Brush - 'The Duke'
    Soap - MWF
A/S - Boots Witch Hazel gel followed by Tabac A/S lotion

a bit sore... I guess the 'yellows' aren't for me... I need to stock up on Astra SP'S by the look of things!!

Gentlemen, here is today shave menu:

    Razor: Kropp 6/8 round point
    Brush: Simpson Chubby
    Cream: Macca Root
    Pre-shave: Edwin Jagger
    Scuttle: Moss
    Face lather
    Alum
    Witch hazel
Balm: Coral Skin Food by Trumper
    Aftershave: Musgo Real Classic

I grabbed the Simpson Chubby by mistake, knowing it's a superior brush for soap and not for cream. At least I prefer it with soap. Ah well, a senior moment, what can I say?

    Today's face scrubber was:

    6/8 W&B In Faux Tortoise
    RazoRock XXX
    Aqua Velva Blue Ice
    Cuba Gold

The 6/8 W&B square point, I just finished restoring it this week, and then it sold the first day it was available. But, before it went, I had to shave test it. Once I had shave tested it, I was really kind of sad it was going, as it was one fine shaver. I had put an excellent edge to her, sharp but smooth. And it was as clean in 1 pass as I have ever gotten. No, I wasn't 'kind of sad', I was down right bummed.

I didn't have time to get a pic for the SOTD today.

    Enjoy the upcoming weekend all!!!
