    Thanks Jamie

The combination of using a DE (or two) and a straight is working perfectly for me.

I've got a couple more in need of a restore so will be giving you a shout at some stage soon.

    -SOTD-

    Prep: Shower
    Pre-shave: AOS Sandalwood Pre-shave Oil
    Cream: AOS Sandalwood
    Brush: Omega Mighty Midget
    Razor: TI 6/8
    Balm: AOS Sandalwood
    Lotion: Pinaud Clubman

So for the past week I was frustrated time and time again with my razor. I went back to the hones over and over, never achieving the edge I wanted. I was almost to the point of giving up. However, I let it rest and shaved with a DE for a few days. One day I was looking at my strop and started to laugh.

The thing was in need of some TLC. I cleaned it up. I also noticed it was cupping a bit. So I rubbed it with my palm some. I eyeballed a razor on the strop and it seemed ok. The blade laid flat on the strop. I also watched some stropping videos. Why not? Back to the basics.

Well, after today's shave the basics seemed to pan out. Nice shave. Not perfect since I was aiming for a test. But the razor was doing it's job. Finally, after all the frustration I had a smile on my face while I was shaving. I need to look into investing in another strop. Poor guy. My one and only strop was my first strop purchase.

Old Photo, the TI is looking dingy now.

    Prep: Hot Water Wash
Razor: Friedmann and Lauterjung "Electric" (must be a cordless model)
    Brush: Semogue 2000
    Soap: L'Occitane Cade
AS: Nivea Double Action Balm, Clubman Bay Rum
    Finish: Crusellas Sandalwood
    Stash Treatment: Murray's Bee's Wax
Results: An extra 20 minutes of sleep sounded like a better idea than getting up and shaving this morning. In the end it turned out to be a wonderful, relaxing evening shave with 3 very thorough passes and some good music. There's been some discussion with my son about no-shave November. I gotta be honest, I don't know how or if I could go a whole month without shaving. I feel like a bum when I have barely visible stubble! In my cockier moments I've even gone so far as threatening to go for the full on "Russian anarchist" beard and not shave or trim my beard from 01 November to 01 May. Just between us, the daily shave has become such a cherished part of the day that I doubt I could go a week, let alone six months, without it. We'll see what we see but, in the end I'll likely shave through no shave November and (as a compromise) stop trimming my moustache (which I never do anyway.)

Nice shave and razor, but I think this blade has been regrinded at some point, since it's afull hollow, but I think it should be a wedgy grind (I guess it was produced around mid 19th century):
