Thanked: 88Razors: Kanenaga kamisori
Prep: Bald Frog Eucalyptus Balm
Brush: Vie Long horse
Soap: Bald Frog Tangerine
A/S: Chrome
Result: A great shave.
I received my Kanenaga kamisori today. It was sharp, but not shave ready. I gave it two 7:1 cycles on my barber hone and six or seven 7:1 cycles on my PHIG using lessening pressure on the edge, and it was ready to go (thanks to Glen's kamisori honing video for technique). I was able to shave with the ura away from my face, and got a great shave with just a little irritation. It was different, but a lot of fun.
Thanks for the honor Max!Last edited by DFriedl; 08-04-2012 at 11:09 PM.

Fantastic shave, this is indeed a great razor (one of those that only seems to get sharper with use) it seldom takes more than a few laps on the strop to return it to a fantastic edge.

A great Birthday Shave
Razor: 11/16 G. Johnson 7 Star Hammer
Brush: 24mm Silvertip in custom American Ash
Uber: TOBS Eton College
As: Lucky Tiger Splash
EdC: TOBS Eton College (Thanks SRD, birthday gift from my Wife)
A great shave for my 55th Birthday. It was the 3rd, but after working my first full week at my new company, I was exhausted. I didn't get to shave until bedtime, so I didn't get to post this until today. I got to use several B-day gifts from my wife and son for this shave. The Eton College is one fantastic Bond Street blend. What a great scent it is, and now to have matching cologne is a lot of fun.
Talk about a lazy morning!! I slept 9 hours for the first time in forever!!! It was wonderful.
During this fantastic shave, which it was, 3 pass BBS, I never nicked or cut myself anywhere. Clean and smooth as a whistle. Then while trying to pose my gear, I ran my index knuckle across the edge and cut my finger a good one.
Who knew Photography could be so deadly!! hehehe.
Have a great weekend folks.
M-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --

Mike,
Happy birthday, and sorry to hear about the cut. But look at the bright side, it's not a cut that will prevent you from enjoying another shave tomorrow! He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.
