Monday madness!!!
Today started off with a great shave from my Gem SE, a gift from a good friend!!
I've still got several soaps I've never tried yet, obtained through birthday gifts and what not, so today's shave was an adventure in the unknown.
So, here it is:
Prep: Hot Shower, conditioner rub
Soap: RazoRock Fresco
Brush: 24mm Silvertip, custom handle made by WillN
Razor: Gem SE Silver
Post: Alum Block + Humphrey's Witch Hazel splash
AS: Aqua Velva Ice
EdC: Stetson
I look, feel and smell GREAT!!!!
Have a great week boys!! I hope my schedule settles down so I can do some pics again, as it is, there just isn't the time anymore...
But, I'll keep trying!!
Best to you all!!
M

Monday :
Very nice shave today. Used a razor that I purchased off of eBay that had originally been made in germany for a Barber Supply Store in my home town. This is the second one I've been able to find. Sharpened up nicely.
Soap: Arko Shave Stick
Brush: boar

Thanked: 13Nighttime shave, Hotel room
Razor: Dovo Astrale (as usual)
Shave cream: Baléa Men Shave Cream extra moisture
(no brush)
Aftershave treatment: Nivea For Men Anti-Irritation after shave balm
Hotel bathroom: Hostellerie de la Rive Gauche, Beloeuil, Québec
I've been looking for a good travel solution, and this seems to pretty close, though I'm not totally happy with the Baléa. It's a fairly good brushless cream, I guess. I don't think the search is over, though. The Nivea's a good balm for sensitive skin, which is nice. I dunno, I'm still looking for a brush-free travel combo to love.

A lovely two pass shave from the Maxotte, this razor as the finest grind of all my razors you could bend the blade with your finger if you wanted.

Not sure what happened yesterday; I composed my SOTD text, took the photo, edited it, and then I THOUGHT I uploaded it all, but clearly not. A slowed internet connection meansI leave the computer to do its bizzo and next I know my brat of a kid is on there researching his ‘gamer tag’. I suggested ‘Joely Boy’, and then ‘Small’ (my nickname for him). I was met with ‘You’re a dickhead, Dad’. I tried to rebuild the relationship by suggesting ‘GR8JoelGameR’ but it didn’t wash. Anyhoo, that was the reason for the misplaced SOTD, either that or I’m being censored.
Yesterday’s shave was shit anyway, today’s was better. A nice shave with the Burrell. It’s entirely possible I was just a bit over confident on the weekend when I decided to hone ALL of my razors. (when I say ‘ALL’ it was only 4). Maybe I should have taken a more measured approach and concentrated on just ONE at a time. They got treat like little robots and were all subjected to the same regimen (10x8,10x16) apart from the De Pews.
Cufflinks of the day were rather overly ornate chain linked, hollow, MOP? Some Sort Of Sparkly Stone? Used to be brass and gold plated and now just brass. 1930's?
BTW, not really liking the Pashana Bay Rum stuff. I like the Dominica better. It’s possible the fact I bought the hair tonic rather than the AS explains its 'deficiencies'.

A nice comfortable single pass DFS today. MNS Pine & Cedar is such a wonderful green scent. And I'm really a fan of the way my face feels after I shave with it. I really didn't need an aftershave, but I'm so hooked on the Lucido, that I couldn't resist.
