I love this razor, but today, it was fine N-S, but a little rough on the S-N pass. What's interesting is that I'm finding it easier to shave my neck, but having a very hard time against the grain on my face.
I'm not sure if its my prep or that my razors just aren't as sharp as they should be, but I'm having a hell of a time around the chin (which to be honest has always been a problem spot as my hair in this area is very coarse and thick).
On the upside, after a month of using straights as my primary shaving implement, I am able to get a good enough shave that I don't feel the need to go back with a DE or Trac II to do clean up.

As tomorrow is payday I thought I'd do a cheep shave day (well a little cheaper than normal). I'm a cheapskate what can I say
Williams Mug soap
$5 boar brush
$10 Ebay razor (honed on $14 worth of sun tiger stones)
no aftershave just cold water
good smooth shave not great but good and did I mention cheap.
(OK I cheated I used my Heirloom strop too.) but its the only decent one I have and I can't live without it.
Even with the strop that would be less than a hundred bucks for a lifetimes worth of shaving.Last edited by Wildtim; 12-15-2006 at 12:52 AM.

Love that soap smell and the shave was very nice now that I have a strop to take with me. Next time I'll try to post a pic. Getting pertty good at this now.

Thanked: 346Fri:
Rooney small style 1 brush
T&H LSS
Hand American strop
5/8 "made in England" 1/2 hollow
Pinaud Clubman A/S
At first I didn't think this razor was quite sharp enough, but it delivered an excellent shave in all respects. The ergonomics of this razor are a little tight - the shank feels like it's only big enough for 1 2/3 fingers, and the tail isn't quite big enough for its finger either. I suspect this means it's an old example - my W&B faux-frameback has similar ergonomic issues, but it may just be the way they are.Last edited by mparker762; 12-16-2006 at 03:07 AM.

5/8 Holland 1/2 hollow
Rooney #1 large silvertip
Nivea shaving cream
Proraso A/S splash
Proraso pre-post
This Holland is my version of the "little razor that could" its not fancy or expensive ($35 shave-ready from altima on e-bay), but the heavier grind makes it the only 5/8 that comfortably goes against the grain in the heavier areas. Its alwasy great to find an inexpensive razor that shaves as well as razors costing many times more.
