    Default December 10 - December 16

    Sun:

    Rooney small style 1
    T&H soap
    Hand American strop
    6/8 Robert Williams french point
    Taylor's Bay Rum A/S

The Williams got a little more time on the hones yesterday. The steel in this razor is quite a bit harder than any of my Friodurs. It seems to be about the same step up in hardness from the Friodurs as the Friodurs are from the Swedes. Because of this its a slow honing razor but it takes a very keen edge, much sharper than I've been able to get on my TI Pierre LE or my Friodurs, and it holds it throughout the shave. Very impressive performance from an equally impressive razor. The TI Pierre LE just got seriously pwned.

    Default Research Day

    Hot shower
Very old W&B 6/8 sort of round point (one of my favorites)

Truefitt and Hill silver tip brush
Mama Bears Experimental Rose shaving cream
2 passes, one with and one against the grain

Wow............. I need to stop hanging around here so much as it tends to make me question how good my current favorites really are. All this talk about Double Ducks, Pumas, Maestros, etc

The Pierre LE sounded outstanding, and for this to top it says a lot. Think I need to break out a Revisor soon since they always seem to please me.

Yeah, Michael - seems Robert / Pappabull did a fabulous job! I like the looks of the blade, too!

    As for my shave:
    several days' growth
    no prep
    Little Cutie
    Colleen's Desert Ironwood
    Moss scuttle
    Tony M red latigo strop
    8/8 Friodur
    8/8 W&B
    Trumper's alum block
    Lucky Tiger AS Toner
    Nivea AS Balm sensitive skin

I was not supposed to shave, just testing Colleen's Desert Ironwood. However, the soap felt nice on my face! No irritation!

So I just could not resist and broke out the razor box. Thought the Friodur was ready for a shave. Wrong! However, I am proud, because I did leave it and finished with the W&B. I usually just go on and that's, as all know, not good

While the Friodur did not shave well, the round point was sharpened kind of like a spike, so I got two very tiny nicks on one side and a 2" very shallow scratch (almost can't be seen but still I know it's there) This drove me mad! Then the W&B was shaving well, but I was already mad so some innatention cut a bit in an old scar from mounting biking on my chin, where the skin is kind of raised from the normal level from the stitch job. Argh!

Nevertheless, there was no irritation / razor burn whatsoever, I almost did not feel the alum... Had not used the Nivea for a long time and I remembered why - L'O is so much better! Even the J/A/S/O/N 6-in-1 is significantly better than the Nivea... Before I tried them, I thought Nivea is fab

    Cheers
    Ivo

    Mon:

    Rooney small style 1
    T&H soap
    Hand American strop
    5/8 Wonderedge
    Harris face milk

Very nice shave. This was a NOS Wonderedge purchased from (and honed by) Lynn. There's a little tenderness around my chin where the blade was flexing a bit as it hit the tough stubble, but it was a much stiffer blade than I expected from looking at it, and Lynn's edge was outstanding.

    Generic dark badger brush
    Colleen's Orange Patchouli soap
    NOS 7/8 Crown & Sword
    Alum block
    Pinaud Clubman A/S

Best hotel shave I've had in a long time, it pays to take a better razor on trips.

first a nice hot shower while my brush relaxes in hot water

then I had an awesome BBS shave (2days of growth):
did a nice 3-pass, so even my problem areas are completely eradicated
no irritation thanks to Colleen's awesome Cavendish black soap.

finished with a nice splash of cold water and then some DKNY aftershave along with elements aqua by Hugo Boss. Watch out world, here I come!

If only all things where as pleasant.
