Daaaaang! Did I say the C-MON was my best shaver yesterday? Well, I have at least two 'best shavers' now. I'm about 60% done with the first pass and I'm saying to myself, "Wow, this Dovo is the RIGHT blade!" The first WTG was a DFS, and that's usually what tells me how meticulous I can be on the ATG second pass. Well, I got an ATG under the lower lip and an XTG over the chin that I would not have DARED two weeks ago. Closest shave yet - even on the chin and upper lip - and so close to perfect that I wouldn't want to have to live on the difference.
I got a few more samples in the mail yesterday from The Shave Den. Oh, yeah, can't remember who the devotee was that convinced me to try Musgo Real, but THANKS anyway; I'm sold! Definitely ordering the big bottles when these samples run out. 'SMANLY!

Hot water prep
Missile 7/8 Tokyo frameback razor - New Forest High Mountain Badger brush - Harris Lavender SS - cold water splash - Thayers Green resplash - L'Oreal asb - hot towel - Harris Arlington AS
A very pleasant shave, in silence, for a change... No music, just the scraping sound of the blade killing whiskers. A fine blade, though on the small side for my taste. Clean in two.

5/8 W.H. Morely & Sons
Maca Root SC
Whippeddog 22mm Silvertip
Thayer's Witch Hazel w/ Lemon
Not quite as smooth of a shave as I've been getting. I don't know if it's that I don't usually shave multiple days in a row, the Maca Root instead of Proraso, or I just had bad technique today. Oh well still a DFS with a small amount of discomfort."Speed never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary, now that's what gets you..."

Thanked: 1185With regard to Lilac Vegetal, there seems to be two schools of thought, Love It or Hate It. The latter school often compares the smell to urinal cakes, public restrooms, cat piss etc. I myself am part of the Love It school, in fact it might be my favorite variant in the Clubman/Pinaud lineup. While I've never identified the bottle aroma with any of the aforementioned offensive smells, I will say that it does smell better after a brief dry down that it does from the bottle. Any other Lilac Vegetarians care to weigh in?
