I absolutely love this razor. It has gone from a troublesome blade that took forever to hone over multiple sessions, to the most insanely sharp thing I think I have ever held in my hands, to a nasty vampire that offered a valuable reminder about pressure and not rushing, to an absolutely fantastic shaver that is giving my FBU a run for its money in my rotation. 6/8" of Irish-pointed wedge-y Sheffield greatness.
Have a wonderful week, everyone!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I think of this one as a "back to my roots" sort of shave. It has been a while since the old Dovo made an appearance with Conk almond. The shave was finished with Stephan's lilac from the collection of reagent bottles.

Razor | Wade and Butcher Special, 5/8 | Überlather | Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad/O Melhor
After Shave | D. R. Harris Bay Rum Hair Tonic | Pashana Bay Rum
Excellent shave this morning, in fact as I marvelled at my incredible shaving skills and the prowess and exactitude with which I handled my razor I thought to myself I really ought to make a shaving video one day.
I tried for an überlather with the Nomad soap and O Melhor cream plus glycerine but the O Melhor has solidified in the heat of summer somewhat. After the shave I noted that the O Melhor was still hiding in a little extraction below the frothy cream, so basically the überlather was just the soap with some glycerine. Nevertheless, the resulting mixture was adequate. I did two passes which resulted in a pretty good shave; not perfect, but certainly pretty good.
I hope you’re all having a good week. Another two day’s work at the madhouse and I’m then off camping with my sons and my brother to Deep Creek, which is essentially a long-lost remnant of the Garden of Eden, but with kangaroos, snakes, lizards, spiders, poisonous ants, inaccessible terrain, harsh dry conditions, idyllic beaches, a carton of beer, ridiculous topics of discussion, questionable fare and happy banter.
Being a long weekend (Easter) there will be the normal compliment of simple fisher-folk (bogans, i.e. white trash), who I shall endeavour to ignore. It is important that I ignore them, as otherwise I have a tendency to confront them. I shall resist the temptation to confront them, no matter how loud, brash, base and crass they are and read Tennyson, Whitman and Keats.

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanked: 485Love the look of that razor; that's cool!
Hmmm. 'lubricity'. I like it. Nice word. 'Lubraciousness' even. 'Lubraciousnicity'. 'Anti-Lubracious-ism'. I like new words. I tell my dog, Lucy, a Dalmatian, that the spareaciousness (spare-acity) of food is NOT increasing; that is, the rate of food becoming 'spare' is not increasing. I say this when she is hungry and she tells me she wants 'spare' food...
Hmmm, "The lubricity of this beer is making me overly verbose"...Last edited by carlmaloschneider; 03-25-2013 at 08:53 AM.
