I wish you all a pleasant and prosperous week!
Hot shower prep
Razor: Torrey faux frameback
Soap: Cella
Mug: ceramic
Brush: re=knotted in mixed badger
Aftershock: Alum Block
Splash: Bay Rum in a vintage bottle
The Day? Overcast and +4ºC expected. The Shave? Well the razor is first time off the hones and needs some tweaking. Not quite the level of sharpness I like. The Cella? Why bother!
The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker!

I always enjoy using this straight razor. It's nice to use my first straight razor and think how much my shaves have improved since then.Keith

A Belated Happy Birthday to Rene first of all!!!
A Wonderful Sunday shave today.
After being ill with a cold for the last few days, I'm feeling a little better today. Even though it's only 17 degrees outside today, I had to get out and repair my sons windshield wipers. So prep was essential.
Pre: Hot Shower, Hot Towel Soak
Soap: OBR Sandalwood in my 64oz Bowl - more on the new soap later
Razor: Top Flight and Gem MM TTO
Brush: Whipped Dog Silver tip in Custom WillN American Ash handle
post: Alum
AS: Pinaud Bay Rum
EdT: OBR Limes & Peppercorns
Deo: OBR Sage & Cedar
Trying my sample pack of OBR shave soaps this week. I found it to be wonderfully fragrant as you would expect. What wasn't expected was the lubricity it provided. Getting the blend of water and soap right was at first challenging, but then I discovered the secret. Just leave the puck in the bowl water and swirl right over the top of it until you get the desired consistency. I found it to be very non-fluffy lather, but it was thick, wet and slick. It does an excellent job and smells up the whole house with that wonderful Bay Rum scent.
I ended up with a very near BBS shave today in 3 passes. I left the shave den smelling as good as I felt. Now if only this old face would look as good as I felt, that would be a miracle!!!
Have a great week Fellow Shave fanatics!!

Thanked: 18The total homebrew shave experience
Today I had a pretty nice shave using all home made supplies. I still consider myself a beginner, but I have the best results with cold water and at least 3 days growth. Anyway, it was a very satisfying shave!
Razor: Home made O-1 fixed blade, stropped on home made canvas and leather hanging strops
Preshave: cold water splash, soap with homemade transparent rosin soap
Home made shave soap, face lathered with home made brush
Splash on homebrew hard cider aftershave
Moisturize with home made lotion
There are more details on the above items (other than the lotion, which I just made on Saturday, so have not blogged on it yet):

Beginning to think I'm too busy for my own good. The Hollwood, Zen, hour and a half, physical and mental hygiene sessions on Sunday seem to have become a thing of the past. This was a great shave and haircut but I sure wish is would have lasted longer. You see, since the "old man" smell debate has once again leered its ugly head, I decided to do some independent research. I brought in the prettiest (and youngest) chick I know. Not to mention probably the only female on the planet that would sit in the shave cave and intently watch through two passes on the dome and two on the face. I then pulled out: Clubman, Clubman Bay Rum, Skin Bracer and Aqua Velva Classic. I told her to smell them all and pick the one she likes best. She's apparently an Aqua Velva Classic girl. When I finished my shave and applied the Aqua Velva as directed, she said, "Now you smell really good Grandpa." Here's a picture of her from this afternoon
