    Thanks Carl,
I personally like close up details, you may have noticed.
Max is very good at matching colours I've noticed.
But sometimes, its nice to compose a shot showing the whole subject.
As far as patina goes, I love it if it suits the razor, I have a Boker with beautiful patina and would never let a buffer near it.

I found myself reaching for this razor yet again and had a quick face lathered 3 pass shave. Face lathering is alright if you are in a hurry, but I really like the luxury of my scuttle!

    Prep: Shower
    Scuttle: Schwarzweisskeramik
    Brush: Semogue Boar OC Cherry
Razor: Louper 47 'Wiener Schaber' 4/8" quarter hollow
Soap: Nanny's Silly Soap Company Coriander with Goats Milk
    Astringent: Osma Alum
    Aftershave: Speick
Eau de Toilette: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet

Notes: Tiny, weeny razor, but it can still shave. 2 passes and a touch up, reasonably close. Little sting.

Fantastic weather this week in Athens. Summer is coming.

Here are two photos from my Sunday evening mountain run. For those interested in geography or history, the pictures shows Athens and the Saronic bay. The island deep in the horizon is Salamis, where the great naval battle took place, in 480 b.c.

My daughter has been in Athens since January. She returns home tomorrow. She posted on her Facebook that she will miss the kind and polite people of Athens as well as the accordion player, warm pastries and coffee in the morning. She has had a wonderful time and has now become fluent in Greek.
Since I cannot thank all the people of Greece and Athens for their hospitality, I'll thank you. I'm certain she had the experience of a lifetime and I am happy she found your country and city to be so friendly.
So.....thanks!!!! If you ever make it to the northeast US, I'll be certain to return the kindness.

I am glad she had a good time in Athens. I was born here I love the city, but I have mixed feelings about Athenians attitude.
Although modern Athens lives in the shadow of the glorious past, it is a city worth visiting. Unfortunately, the economic crisis had an impact in our lives but I believe things are improving.

Plane travel so I brought along the DE:

Proraso; pre-shave, cream, after shave sensitive skin balm

Merkur Vision with Feather blade (I set it about half way during pass 1-2 and then most conservative setting for ATG)

Brush; Rooney (I really need to get a travel brush- looking at Simpson)

Fairly good shave although I really miss using a straight. The DE is not as gentle on my Adam's apple area (or perhaps my technique fails here) than when I use a straight.

It is encouraging feedback though to observe that my straight razors are as keen or may even be more keen than the feather DE blade.

Edit; OK; maybe my straight razor's are not quite as keen as a Feather DE blade if measured scientifically BUT they do shave MUCH better with the same amount of passes.

Pre : Hot water, Proraso pre-post cream
    Soap : Tabac
    Brush : Progress Vulfix 404
    Razor : Merkur 15C
    Blade : Feather
Post : Cold water, alum block, Proraso pre-post cream, Nivea moisturising balm

    Finish : BBS

    Comments :
Ye gods, the Tabac has become a lather monster. Water dribbled onto the soap and left to soak (enough time to slap the Proraso pre-post on), then mopped up and wiped into a bowl, and finally this is whipped into a lather... it just didn't stop producing.

Btw, the Arko's ended up in the bin. Shaving soap shouldn't be sticky... certainly not as sticky as that was.

My alum block is down to about the size of a quarter, lol. I keep forgetting to order a new one.

    By my mind:
Arko smells like wet feets. Terrible.
