So, anyway, a guy walks into my office today. Says, Got anything planned for the weekend? So I say, I’m restoring one of my straight razors tonight, do you know what patina or patination is? He says no. I say, so, see these pliers here? Nice patina, see that grey stuff? Nice. But these scissors; see how shiny they are? No patina. Anyway, I say, see this razor? (I turn my computer monitor to him so he can see my De Pews razor on the desktop background) it DID have a BIT of patina when I got it, but not enough. So, anyway, I say, you can force a patina, you can make it look older than it is. Oh. Wow, he says, Like in that show American Pawn where that dude brought in that shotty [shotgun] and it wasn’t really old but he said it was and made it look like it was? Yeah, I say, like that. So, I say, vinegar, you can do it with vinegar. Vinegar! He says. Yeah, I say, and like CITRUS juice and stuff. Citrus! he says. Mustard, I say. Mustard. You can do it with mustard. Oh. He says, looking down at his shoes. Oh. Good. Anyway, I say. I soaked one of my straights. Straight? He says. A cutthroat? Yeah. I say. A cutthroat. Wow, he says. Anyway, I say, I soaked it in vinegar for like TWELVE hours, because, well, I took a photo of it the other day. Oh, he says, a photo… Yeah, I say, there’s like this FORUM. We, um, take PHOTOS of our razors and, um, stuff, and, err, TALK about it. Oh, he says, on the Net? (looking down at his shoes again). Yeah, I say, on the Net, and I took this photo, and I said, on the shaveoftheday thread…The WHAT? He says. The, um, shave of the day thread, so, I took this photo and I thought, wow, that looks really dark, but then I said (on the forum) it looks darker than it really IS, I said, so…… then I decided to make it DARKER. Darker? He says. Yeah, I say. DARKER. So, I say, it came out really cool, but well, the scales are leather. The WHAT are leather? The, umm, SCALES are leather. The handles. So, so the leather scales soaked up the vinegar I say…And the citrus, he says. No, I didn’t use citrus, I said. I thought you said…Yeah, you CAN use citrus, but this time it was vinegar. Oh, he says. He looks down at his shoes. Mustard? No. No mustard (thinking this is getting difficult), the scales...Handles? he says, yeah scandles, I stutter, soaked up the vinegar and when I put it in its case I closed it and it soaked up even MORE vinegar and now it’s rusty, so, yeah, I’m restoring a razor …......

Oh. He says. There is silence, I'm looking at my monitor showing the De Pews. I'm looking at his face.

    He looks at the clock.

    I clear my throat.

Anyway, I say.....What about you? Doing much?

Lotse, I love the way you write sentences in English, it's really refreshing.

Pre : Hot water, Kiehl's facial fuel wash, Proraso pre-post cream
    Soap : Proraso green tub
    Brush : Progress Vulfix 404
    Razor : Personna
    Blade : Personna
Post : Cold water, Proraso pre-post cream, Nivea moisturising balm

    Finish : Smooth

    Comments :
Another eBay purchase, this Personna razor is definitely on the mild side, and a pleasant contrast to the aggressive "Old type" I've used for the past two days. I'm not too sure the handle is the correct one though, it feels as though it's made of aluminium, whereas the other components are made of steel. Never the less, I'm more than happy with it, and will definitely be sticking a Feather blade in it for the next use.
