Pre : L'Oreal facial wash, Proraso pre-post cream
    Soap : Tabac
    Brush : Turkish "No.6"
Razor : 1920's Gillette "old type"
    Blade : Derby
Post : Proraso pre-post cream, cold water, Nivea moisturising balm

    Finish : BBS

    Comments :
The menthol lingered, this time, aided by the cold water I guess. I wonder if some "Alt Innsbruck" would compliment the Proraso... hmm.

Hot Shower, 1960 Gillette Fat Boy, VDH Boar, Arko Shavestick, Aqua Velva Classic, Firehouse Wacky Tacky

Nothing fancy about today's shave except perhaps the results. Lots of stuff to do today. This is my last full weekend of freedom before the start of the summer semester

Careful, Celestino. It looks like you're attracting bugs. I would hate to see you get bit. Just to be safe, perhaps you should send that brush to me for extermination and/or safekeeping!
    Mvcrash and Geezer like this.
He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.

Good one, Bill! Unfortunately, a fine gentleman from Spain has first dibs on the brush as he noticed the mosquito in the handle, right away!

My friend, it is not a competition for the fastest. Far more important is the thoroughness with which I can protect you from such blood sucking parasites! After all, who better to know about such threats than a lawyer?

Oh, no! Don't start this as i could potentially have over 50 gents wanting this brush and i can't let it go as it needs to be photographed and i have a lifetime contract with it!

    SATURDAY
Thank you all for a week of fellowship, shaves, and ideas!
    Hot shower prep
Razor: Shumate’s “Antiseptic” 9/16ths, aluminum scales
    Soap: Nivea (European)
    Mug: soup
    Brush: Generic Silvertip...great brush!
    Aftershock: Alum block
    Splash: Botanicals Balm

The Day? Melting snow and a trace of sunshine.>7ºC. The Shave? The flexible little razor was honed to perfection but the extra weight of the aluminum scales made the shave a lot more tricky than necessary!
The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker!
    ~Richard

PS. In the 1920’s the manufacturers started to make aluminum scales for razors. The world had just survived the Anthrax plague and folks took no chances where they could avoid them. Airshows excepted! Autoclaves / sterilizers were better developed and electricity had become common. Razors which would withstand the high moist heat of the sterilizers were needed. In later years, Barbercide and Listerene did the job without heat nor damage to scales.
