Thanked: 485Now I'm finding that very interesting. I LIKE the photo, but I also like what's interesting in the photo to me, i.e. the playing card. I know of no card in English with a 'B' on it, we have a K for King, Q for Queen, a J for Jack (I think it's also called a Knave; I'm no card player). But no 'B'. I' guessing the 'B' is the first letter of the German word for 'Knave' or Jack. Am I right?
That's not prompted me to think of tonight's theme for the SOTD; I was thinking about it ALL the way home and couldn't come up with one!Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Carl,
the "B" means "Bube"= Knave
Nearby (10 miles) is Altenburg, where most of the cards were produced. There is also a very good museum.

@Carl: I am glad if you like it!
@Tom: Thanks for the help!
It's the Knave of Hearts, a romantic sentence to the beginning of May.>Jean

Thanked: 485Wednesday
Razor | Jernbolaget Frameback | Soap | Crabtree and Evelyn Nomad | Cologne | Lavanda
I HAD decided on a ‘old games’ theme for the SOTD photo today; there are so many old 1930 odd games out there, but then I got carried away positioning the bottle of Lavanda Eau de Cologne and decided to just take pictures of THAT.
I was a bit embarrassed to find, at around thirteen hundred hours today, that I had stubble. Yes. You heard it. Stubble. I was raving about this razor’s edge only last week, and now it (or maybe something else) fails me. The lather, I admit, was rubbishy. It was too cold in the bathroom for me to bother, really. I need one of those electric bar heater things, you know, the unsafe ones that suck power out of the grid like, well, some sort of Super Hero that sucks power out of the grid. Is there a ‘Transformer Man’? I’ll have to ask my son…
[EDIT] This picture makes the patina on this razor much darker than it really is. However, looking at it, I'm wondering if a REALLY dark patination or even gun bluing might not look really nice on the blade, leaving the frame silver? Hmmm. I think I've found a project...
