    Tuesday evening
    Hot water prep
Iwasaki Kamisori - Carl Monkhouse NOS boar brush (fresh off the bay) - D.R. Harris Lavender soap - cold water splash - Thayer's rose witch hazel - hot towel - shower - Penhaligon's Endymion sample EdT

A very fine and relaxing shave with the Iwasaki. Getting better at my technique with it and had the doubtful pleasure of breaking in this new old stock boar brush. The idea was to get a harder brush for my soaps, so it would lather better. The hairs are so ridiculously large though, that I find myself "slapping" this thing around my face more than brushing... Still, the length also holds a ton of water, so lathering went actually surprisingly well. Not too bad a stench from such an old brush. I'm sure it'll get better soon. Enjoyed to the tunes of The Shins - Oh inverted world and to the liquid of Pilsner Urquell.

    sashimi,

Its not the age of the brush that's causing that stink. It's the newness of the boar brush that is causing that smell.

If you soak your boar brush briefly in some shampoo--I use baby shampoo--it will reduce the stink. Over time and with continued use, the stink will disappear completely.

Hope this helps. BTW...Great shaving kit you have there.

    sashimi,

I almost bought one of those brushes off of the Bay, I just could not pull the trigger. I might have to rethink that decision after seeing yours.

    Wednesday morning:

    Klar Kabinett Shaving Soap
"Hirschpinsel" with TGN Finest (Hirschpinsel trans. Deerbrush)
    Opinel 6/8
    Dr. Harris Pink Aftershave

These soap is my reference. I like the subtle scent of roses. All she promises she will hold. This is serious.

    Have a nice day!

I made a nice huge bowl of my favourite lather; added heaps of water, and soaked my brush in that for hours. Afterwards, no smell at all.
