Can you share something from the experience? Balance ok?

Traskrom, did you order your Mongoose with the anodizing, or have it done after-market. I like the looks of that anodizing...

Yeah to me the Mongoose with the stainless steel handle is far to heavy once you switch to the Hempel Titanium handle which happens to be half the weight of the stainless steel the razor comes into it's own It's a great razor and a fantastic shave, I personally found the angle came instinctively a very easy razor to use.

I actually prefer a heavier handled razor, after looking for a while finally found the fully polished super stainless steel razor, want it to feel as close to a big Sheffield as possible....what type of blade are you using?

I'm using the Feather Pro Andrew I've always loved the way they shave and you can get as many as 10 to 15 good shaves from one blade.

Mine just arrived along with an NOS unopened Vintage Old Spice Flask - this is one mighty big SE, think I'll try the Feather Super Pro blade first for tomorrows shave.

Congratulations! I've noticed that this beast love shallow angle. Feather pro super works only four times for me. For some reason I can't shave with other blades. They just don't shave me.

Struck a deal with a previous owner, if I'm not going to use a straight, and for travelling, everything I've read lead me to this SE, I can use different blades, different widths of blades, and the fact that it's a SE really appealed to me.

We'll see tomorrow, if the Feathers are too harsh, I have some Kai Captain Titan Milds to try...really a heavy monster, which is great IMO.

Originally I had the SS handle which made the overall package feel much too heavy - so I swapped it for a slimline titanium and the balance is just fine. Actually, I would prefer a lighter head as well so maybe future designs of the razor will address this - there's certainly enough material in it to enable a slimline version.

I have the Cobra original and, although the aesthetics are good, the quality and design don't begin to compare to the Mongoose. My particular Cobra has a pretty sloppy blade holder so I have to be extra careful in making sure that the blade sits up against the stops - more than once, the blade has moved when closing the door and ended up just resting on the blade stop - that 's when you pretty quickly take bits of your face off. I haven't used the Cobra since the Mongoose came along - in fact I don't even keep them in the same room.
My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.

Well the first shave with this beast was very nice, surprising actually at its speed and efficiency.

I'm going to look into getting some of the wider SE blades, this blade I had in was perfect, and it was doing a little bit of "singing" as it went through, some unexpected nicely received feedback, and I hear some of the wider blades will give more. The shave is definitely a combination of the Feather shavette style blade with the ease of the safety razor - big difference in the feel of that solidly mounted blade in the handle versus some of the wobble from a normal DE - no tug, no pulling or awkward blade angles.

Had two days of growth, and after two passes, one WTG and one ATG, anymore would have been pointless, great weight, super easy to use, had to correct myself and realize I could use one hand only, and it was an easy DFS (not a fan of the term BBS).

If you're travelling, or in a rush and want that uber close shave, this razor is it, wider head is actually perfect IMO, certainly outperforms a regular DE in speed and efficiency, but you won't be shaving for long, the Mongoose get's the job done quickly and pretty much perfectly.

Que pasa ? Wider blades ? I note a dispenser of Feather Supers in your photo. I thought those were the specific type of blade that razor accommodates ? What else is there ? Inquiring minds and all of that.
