Bob I understand a little better now. I just thought from reading that OC were aggressive and CC was mild. Now I know better.
I did not realize that you have tried the Gillette Slim adjustable already and found it nothing to write home about. The Slim is really a lighter weight Fat Boy with a different balance due to it's slimmer handle. I believe the adjustable heads are the same so if you can't get a hair raising close shave with a slim set at 9 I don't know what to say.

In what way did you find it nothing to right home about?

If you are experimenting with DE razors I'll throw another into the mix
I was very impressed with the vintage GEM MICROMATIC Single Edge razor to the point that I would recommend you take one out for a date.
They are very common and can be picked up for a song, open comb or closed.
I call it my $15 Mongoos.

The open comb is more aggressive than the closed in the GEM family.

Well I tried it on a couple settings and never liked the sensation. I much prefer a razor that isn't adjustable.

Could yo be a little more specific? Basically with an adjustable DE you have a Solid Bar/Closed Comb DE and the sensation should be the same as using a mild or more aggressive SB non adjustable DE depending on the setting. So I am having a little trouble following you.

I may not have been experienced enough to enjoy it truly. I got a clean shave with it I just didn't like the option of adjusting it.

Maybe it's a personal thing but I wasn't in the spirit to learn it on one setting and then keep adjusting until I found the right setting because with me I would never stop adjusting it... ADD would kick in and I'd be adjusting it during a shave just to see what happens. On my super speed (ol reliable) I know what it can do and how it does it..

Sorry Bob I forgot about this thread until now.
