Thanked: 278I feel kind of guilty. I bought my DE at the same time as my straight, early in December. Used the DE a few times and got great shaves, but then I dipped my toes in the water and started on the straight. Now my poor DE lies unused, as do the various brands of razor blades I planned to try out but may now go forever unused.
How long can you keep razors before rust affects the edge? I better stick them in an airtight container with some silica gel.

This thread makes me cry. I still love my Futur. It doesn't hurt me like the Straights still do...

Thanked: 101I gave my old Gillette a try after having shaved for a while with the straight. No comparison!!! The DE gave me irritation and it hurt. The Straight= No irritation and it feels great!

I sold the DE I had had for 2 or 3 weeks the day I got my straight razors back honed by Bart.

I never know for sure rather I'll use my Str8, DE, or Feather AC/DX. More often than not I'll shave with the Str8, then follow up with the DE to clean up.Some days though I'll shave with the DE than follow with a pass with the Feather, or maybe even a Str8..
It's anyones guess what I'll use on any given day. Did I mention that I'm retired, so there seldom is any rush. I send the wife off to work, then take my time.
Ken.
I didn't like retirement for the first few years, but I've kinda caught on...;-)

Thanked: 39I only use my DE when I'm in a rush in the morning. I use to try to rush with my straight but got awful results.
