I love those Valet Autostrops. I guess I just like them because of all the moving parts. Never did shave with one though. And I know nothing of how many different models there were.

That's an easy question. I agree with my friend Obie:
    The Gillette Aristocrat.

    Her is mine.

I love the merkur heavy duty stub handle. perfect for when I can't concentrate to shave with a straight.

For SE, it's my 1912 GEM and Ever Ready with my 1914 "Little Lather Catcher" running a close second. I still take an occasional day off from straight shaving to use 'em just for the fun of it. The 1912's are my go-to travel razors. Easy to deal with on the road and a nice close three pass.

Agree with the Aristocrat: While the late '40's style super speed is a great razor, the little added heft/distribution/balance of the Aristocrat makes it a fabulous shaver. IMHO, my '46-47 Aristocrat is my favorite and my 1912 Gem Jr. with the strange handle (c.'40's?) is a close second

The best shave I've gotten from a safety razor has been with a Gem Featherweight. Comfortable, and smooth as a baby's behind.

Straight razor shaver and loving it!

That is a tough question. It is a toss up between my Gillette Big Fellow and my Gillette New open Comb. I really like the Open Comb design, and can get a close shave from either razor.

The best shaves I ever had were from a Schick injector e type. Those things shave amazingly well, better than any Gillette I've used.
second best safety razor is my gem micromatic clog proof with Ted pella blades.

It's a toss-up between my '49-50 Aristocrat or '64 Super Speed. They shave about the same but I like that gold Aristocrat to hold and look at. But 90% of the time I shave with my EJ 89 Lined.

My L3 1966 Gillette Slim was my first DE razor and still my favorite. It hangs on the shelf on my shelf of shaving gear with a blade always ready for touchups or if I need a quick shave. Although it doesn't get the love it used to due to my love of straights, it's still the "one" for me.
