I have gotten used to the idea that we are in a minority here…

Regarding shavettes, I don’t care much for these contraptions with they exception of the Feather AC series (and similar). At least these feel like straight razors.

For me (and I know some may vehemently disagree with me, which is fine), shavettes don’t feel like true straight razors and I consider them essentially neck shavers adapted for face shaving purposes.

    Imaginary indeed!

Whatever. Trillions of dollars wasted in the first place if you ask me.

My point is, here and now both ways works fine to me.
But, I prefer the fast and easy one.

My shavettes are (mostly) from stainless steel, as my straight razors.
I have nothing against shavettes. I have a few and they work fine. It's not the same as a straight but neither are a lot of other things. For me I enjoy honing, stropping, the ritual, it's all part of the attraction.

Do a little research and you might be shocked at how many things we take for granted in everyday life that came out of the space program.

Sorry, not biting today. Besides this is off topic.

Even though this post is seven years old, I'm surprised that nobody has brought up the fact that these shavettes are Feathers, which is just a half of a DE. The fact is that they make them that are truly disposable straight razors, not just a half of a DE,and if you're using one you'd be better off with a DE,and you wouldn't have to break a razor in half, you could just switch sides. If you want a shavette to learn how to use a straight, Wick makes a shavette that is just about the same size as a real straight.
Just a little food for thought...

Most if not all of the disposable straights I have are Wecks. Those work pretty well and I like them better than the de type. They do shave a little differently but then so do different traditional straights. To me it's more about the process.

Which blades do you use? Personally I like the Personna, and try stopping it before you use it, it seems to make a difference. JMHO
