+1- I've been using both hands since starting with a SR, and I don't think I could get remotely close on my neck without it. Though, I also only use one hand with a DE; not sure why.

I start each side with the hand that matches that side and then interchange hands to finish that side. In other words, I change hands as I need to on each side to get the job done. Another way of putting it is I use both hands on each side, mixing it up for a smooth shave. (This is what happens when you can use both hands for everything, you can't make up your mind on how to say it.)

I will say this though. Even after practicing with a cartridge razor for a few weeks I still nick the left side of my face. Got it good this am. Just started getting confident and the blade reminded me it's there. Lol gotta be careful especially when using your off hand until you really are comfortae with it!

Learn to use both, so if one hand gets hurt, you're still in the game. I can shave my whole beard with either hand, it's not that I use my right for some portions and left for others...that's my definition of knowing how to use both.

+2 - It was suggested to learn to use both hands when I first started out.
Not that it is absolutely necessary, weird feeling at first but it really doesn't take long to get the hang of it.

I would personally recommend that learn to use both.

That's a great idea, if I can practice on someone elses face.

    I only use one hand.

I use one hand as well. I did try using both hands, but I just wasn't comfortable with my less-dominant hand weilding a naked blade.

I use two, but not symmetrically across my face.

Give it an honest shot and if it works great, if not then it wasn't meant to be. There are many prominent members that are one handed shavers.
