Thanked: 3One hand or both
Second shave today with a straight
last weekend was my first…didn't go that well haha! a few cuts and nicks to say the least nothing major but enough to get annoyed about. I gave myself a week of not shaving for everything to heal
Also received my Whipped dog silver tip 22mm set at 50mm brush and used it with my mikes soap…i learnt what proper lathering is, didn't realise how important it was..amazing
My prep was better, my stropping was 10 times better than the first time, my practice during the week and the advice i got here paid off.
only shaved with the grain, but no cuts no nicks and my face felt so smooth…amazing
I assume t only gets better from here !
My question is are people out there using the same hand for both sides or do i need to practice both hands?
I stuck to one although i made an attempt to use my other hand but it felt very odd and reverted back to my natural side

When I started I found using both hands was less difficult than I thought it would be. Now I use the right hand for the right side and the left for the other side. It does give you more options if you learn to use both hands, but it is not necessary.

Use both. You can teach the non dominate hand to do anything the dominate hand can do. Does take time though.

I use both, some use one, find what works for you. This is something that can and probably will change as time goes on for you.

I start each side with the hand that matches that side and then interchange hands to finish that side. In other words, I change hands as I need to on each side to get the job done. Another way of putting it is I use both hands on each side, mixing it up for a smooth shave. (This is what happens when you can use both hands for everything, you can't make up your mind on how to say it.)

I would personally recommend that learn to use both.
