Oh, (sees video above where shaver wipes lather onto side of sponge) I wipe on top of my sponge which is located on basin not in basin. I often do a final rinse under water, and then towel dry, strop, and leave open for a little while. 16% humidity in my house today. Things dry up real quick.
No mildew problems since i got away from municipal water. Plus, no chlorine!Last edited by WadePatton; 01-06-2014 at 10:37 PM.

I'm a left-handed wet washcloth kind of guy. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

I tried a natural sponge tonight. Was GREAT, the gunk doesn't build up on the surface. Painter's natural sponge that happened to be laying around, nuthin' fancy.

Thanked: 36I am also a fan of and use the sponge. If I'm spongeless (traveling), I go with the wash cloth route. I say do whatever floats your boat.....

Thanked: 270As long as you clean the sponge and leave it out to dry, I don't see the hazard. The sponges I get from the grocery store is mildew resistant. Brushes are subjected to the same treatment

Newbie question. Do you run the risk of dulling the edge by wiping it on a sponge or towel vs running it under water?

I suppose you could if you were "ham fisted" about it but it can always be stropped or honed back into shape. Swish it in the water and knock it on the faucet or sink and the blade breaks...Fix that!
And the old adage about terrorism applies. You have to be lucky all the time, the sink/faucet only has to be lucky once. The easy road is rarely rewarding.

just a clean-up hint....
with the sponge, every time you use it, clean it and then stick it in the microwave for a couple of min. this will help to disinfect the sponge but the heat won't harm the sponge at all.
