If aviation has taught me anything, it's redundancy in safety mechanisms. I tell the wife, then lock the bedroom door, then I lock the bathroom door...

I "think" I can top you...at least in regards to distractions. I work overseas and we have "common facilities"...a trailer that has 6 showers to the left and to the right has 6 water closets, 4 sinks and 4 urinals. Well, as you'd expect, rarley do I get to shave with any "quiet" in the room...usually the same dipsheet chatty coworker wants to discuss the cosmos and is the type who will literally grab you by the arm and get in your face during a conversation. He did that once and all I had to say was "it would be a shame if I had an accident and we both came out a bloody mess now wouldn't it? I do have a staright razor in my hand"...at least with your daughter it was a bit of an accident. This knucklehead knows I'm in there with a straight razor and till can't leave me alone. I love it when someone sees you shaving and asks "is that thing sharp"...I'll usually say "yeah, hopefully it's sharp enough to shave but it's definitely sharp enough to kill depending on the intentions ot the person wielding it"...or worse is when you get the "man, I'd be afraid of cutting my throat" to which I'll reply "I like to give most folks enough credit to have enough brains to know when to stop huh"... I tell ya...some people just don't get it...
