..........Go to the Chromium Oxide for 10x, then cotton webbing 15x and Leather 60x. If that doesn't work I move on to the next razor until I can put the dull one on the hones.
I didn't see anyone mention a Barbers hone? I have several and don't use them and I'm not sure why...might have to start

I actually tried my 3-line Swatty, did what the instructions in the box said, gave it 10-12 laps. The more I thought of it, the less surprised I was, it's a barber's hone, it's supposed to sharpen razors quickly and efficiently, and it did!

Put a very nice edge on the blade, not as smooth as my Nani 12k did, but brought the edge back to life quickly and easily, again, I shouldn't be, it did what it was supposed to do, but I was impressed.

Imagine that, old stuff really does work!

Sounds kind of simple minded but I do a quick TPT. If I'm not happy, I do stuff to the blade so I've never had a shave go bad.

Spendur, I was wondering what you hone with , so now we know,, so far guys I've only used my strop but it sounds like I need to get CRoX or diamond spray to help it along some more as it gets a little dull thanks for the thread. Tc

I do a few laps with one of the barbers hones in the shave cave. Currently in that drawer are a Frictionite 00, a Panama, a Gem, an Apart and a Deluxe No 500. So far all of those and several other BHs have proven perfectly adequate is keeping any of my razors sufficiently sharp and smooth. If you enjoy the act of honing the problem with BHs is you only get to do a few strokes.

Exactly what I was going to mention. I'm new to BHs, but am impressed enough to know the BH is for refreshing *and* with a BH that produces a sharper edge than my 12K,,, I mean isn't that their purpose?

Lather your shaving lather on, few X-strokes and voila. Except that fact that I've honed tape on all the way up...

I'm beginning to think that my tape on honing might thwart the convenient use of BHs at the sink. Who wants to stop, clean up and tape up, then lather up(if you aren't in shaving form), then use a BH. Well,,,, I will, but, seriously??
