That's the first and second time I ever heard that.

    Does anyone else do that?

Now we all want to know.
Yup - I counted my shaves.

I lurked here for awhile, and aside from the video I saw of Willi and, "The Manliest Shave", I started to read and follow Jack's posts, usually every day he would detail his shaving experience and such, just got me fascinated with the whole process. So when I came to start, I just naturally looked to the number of shaves being some type of milestone.

I found 20, 50 and then 100 shaves were all benchmarks for me and how I was improving and learning...and that's what's great about this art/hobby, you can always find yourself suddenly learning something new or doing something differently....

And here I thought I was starting to do pretty well...

Counted the days since I received my first razor and it's been a whopping 28 days. At an average of 3-4 per week I have somewhere around a whopping 15 shaves under my belt. Guess I still have a way to go before I hit my epiphanies.

I have yet to achieve this level of mastery, this video is what got me interested, actually more like fascinated with straight shaving, and after much searching, the video led me here, where it turn out Willi is/was a member, and debate raged whether the video was sped up or not. Landing here, I found a member who posted basically a daily journal on his first 100 shaves, and that was it, I was hooked.

When I first saw the title of the video, and saw the start screen, I thought he was going to shave with the kitchen knife hanging on the wall in the background...

Willi keeps it real simple, real fast, and aside from a little weeper, wipes out a beard in minutes flat...this is a repost of the video, but for those who are new to straight shaving, watch and learn!!!

I remember my 100th. It was a great shave but I did not accomplish consistency until about 150. Now they are all great

What you need is one of those counters they have in pool halls mounted above your head in your shave den. With each shave you push another disk and after so many you push them all back and start over or have one stacks 1s another 10s and another 100s and another 1000s.

Oh yeah....it's become a way of life, still to this day, not once have I ever not looked forward to a shave, or afterwards, not felt both physically and mentally refreshed...congratulations!
