Count them? Ahem well err... Yeah in the beginning I kept both a log and a diary. By date recorded products, shave results, any bugs and took photographs. Designed experiments to fix bugs and rechecked results.
Took USB microscope pictures of my skin and the blade. Read endlessly on SRP. Around 50 shaves it clicked, I kept all the data logging going for another 50 or 60 shaves.
Now I just shave and rotate the products, all my shaves vary between good, great, and perfect. Since I don't really have any serious bugs now (burn, stubble, bumps, cuts, and so forth), I don't feel the need to log everything.
So no I don't count anymore, but I sure did in the beginning. I recorded everything like a lab experiment.
It helped me turn the corner at 50 shaves. YMMV
Best,
EdI routinely badger myself and the shaves are improving!

Actually I keep an Excel database on my laptop and I enter the date, what razor, what soap or crème and the results of the lather and shave. I really enjoy going back to see what the best lathers and razors were. I also record my honing for each razor. After I enter that info, I email a dear friend who sr shaves and is my mentor. We compare notes daily and learn a lot from each other. The amazing part is I score the shave on a 1 -15 and now I can see the steady increase in perfection since day one. My shaves started out around a 6 and nearly every one now is a 15
One tired old Marine- semper fi, god bless all vets

Sure - I marked the first 20, 50 and then 100 shaves....not for any particular reason other than as a reference regarding my progress. By 50, I was starting to get the ATG on a consistent basis, by 100, most had come together, now not a lot changes, but occasionally a certain new way of doing something will just evolve...right now, it's getting scything the neck area to get a consistent clean shave seems to be the thing.
Also, when I was lurking here, Jack, another member from Toronto, had journalled his first 100 shaves, was a fascinating read, so the idea of your 100 first shaves stuck in my head.
