Thanked: 5Just my 2 cents worth of advice...Accept the fact that your shaves will suck for quite a while compared to a DE razor. Your cheating with a DE based on technology. Your hand must learn to do what the DE does for you to a degree (maintain a proper angle). This takes muscle memory and muscle memory takes practice. You need to shave with your brain stem not your cortex to be really good.
Focus on one or two fundamentals and master them then learn and practice more new skills. You will have that Ah Ha!!! Shaving experience eventually and when you do think about it and you will recognize you weren't "thinking" about shaving you just were. After that you will continue to improve and learn rapidly. Crawl, walk, then run. But don't get mad or frustrated when you can't run right away take pleasure in doing slightly better each time and enjoy the process of learning a new skill most will never attempt much less master.
In my field of work it's very analogous to gunfighting skills. None are super hard or complex and high speed is merely the fundamentals executed flawlessly and sub consciously. The only way to get there is practice regularly and above all never quit. In a year you'll be glad you didn't.
Any spelling errors, grammatical errors or complete lack of coherent thought is to be blamed on my current sleep deprived state...

All that and I've found that a razor you can't shave with now that you thought was not sharp when your new , seems to shave very well later, as forcourse hair , I don't find that to be an issue A properly honed razor will cut hair it's that simple , it may have an effect on how often it needs honed , but it will still cut it effectively. There ain't any hair worse than mine cause around my house we take my hair an weave hi tensil cables out of it , but I haven't seen the razor that's honed right not mow them down,, and if the razor is right it's all technique from there, hence why a razor after a hundred or so shaves seems to work better ... User makes it happen if it's sharp Tc

Shave #11 and it's the best one yet! I've been using a W&B near wedge that was restored and it was great! I went wtg, then xtg, and atg. Typically, my wtg doesn't cut much hair on my neck or below my chin, but this time it did, and the xtg pass wasn't as bad as it usually is. I've been using witch hazel (w/alcohol) and it seems to tell me whether or not I had a good shave. This time it didn't sting as much. I think that I'm either finally getting my strop-on correctly or I'm using the correct angle. Either way, this is the smoothest shave I've ever had. I guess persistence pays off! Thanks for the tips and encouragement gents!
