Thanked: 1Thanks for all of your responses, I'll go take it to a professional and see what they can do or ill just buy another razor to compare to, I was under the impression Dovo was a good brand what do you recommend? I assure you I am no troll however if after I get my razor professionally honed and stropped it still shaves like sandpaper I will post a video of me waxing my face.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

You can't take it to the knife guys, send it someone in our vendor section, that's the problem it was probably honed by someone who don't know. But also consider it takes time to learn with the proper tools, you will be starting over because of the venture with a bad edge. Tc

Dovo are a good brand, but the razors don't come shave ready.
Good straight razor sellers will open and hone every new razor that gets purchased through them. SRD not only do this they offer a second hone free as well (you pay shipping). It's why everyone links to them to advise people on products. You know out of the box the razor is right.
What country are you in?
And this is a second for don't take it to the knife people, They won't have a clue or the correct hones. Razors need hones that are designed to produce constant smooth edges, and you pay through the nose for that. No knife guy would ever pay what we pay for stones. And no razor guy would ever let a knife near their finishing stones!Last edited by Iceni; 02-27-2016 at 02:11 AM.

Thanked: 433If you share your general area chances are good you could find someone within 100 miles of you to give you some help and maybe get the razor honed

Those that know me and know me well understand that I've often offered to hone for free with the owner only paying for shipping to and from me.
I've read all of the posts and while I'm a little leery I'll offer you the free honing.
As far as 'trolling' goes, I figure there's only one way to find out and that's by you sending me your DOVO and I'll hone it and send it home N/C with you only paying for USPS Priority Small Box cost ($6.90) in the US.
PM me for details.

Thanked: 1Thanks for the offer but I'm just going to send it to SRD since they seem to be the best.

Thanked: 580Can't get a better offer than that. It has been said it takes about 100 shaves to get consistent results shaving with a straight but you need to start with a shave ready razor. It is something you have to be patient with.
We are all here to help and I would accept Cudarunners kind offer, although it would be entertaining to watch someone wax their face.Into this house we're born, into this world we're thrown ~ Jim Morrison

I'm sorry to hear that. I've worked on and honed razors for guys as far away as the UK, India and all over the USA and Canada with not a single complaint and many, many requests for more work on other razors.
I could have given you references but alas that won't be necessary.
