Well, I'm glad the German is perfect and that certainly bodes well for your razor being authentic! If counterfeits regularly screw up English, just imagine how much easier it must be to screw up German! Well those pictures certainly look much, much better, and I no longer see what looked like pitting on the edge, so it must have been dirty with something on your first picture. Additionally, the etching/goldwash looks very smooth and authentic, not the harsh look typically seen in counterfeits, so you're looking good there too! I'm glad it's looking like you do, in fact have a real Solingen razor, which bodes very, very well for its quality. It doesn't look like a custom piece, though, and rather a production razor, but that doesn't mean it isn't still excellent steel and a great blade to begin with. Which brings us back to your original question: why something feels "off". The fact of the matter is: when most production razors, Solingen included, leave the factory, they are NOT shave ready. Despite the website you bought it from and that paper insert (which was probably added by the website company and not the Solingen razor factory) saying it came shave ready there's no way for us to tell you if it's true or not, short of you getting the razor to someone experienced to examine/test. Hopefully, a local member is available to help you near Berlin. What I CAN tell you is that a truly well honed, shave-ready razor absolutely gives just as good a shave as a DE, and in the case of myself and many of the other members here, a far smoother and superior shave.

I think the flash on the first pic did not help things. But with a bright flash it does show things up that the eye cannot see

Thanked: 171Imagine yourself as someone manufacturing razors who is fluent in German, but does not speak English and wants to sell in English speaking countries.
To translate, you might want to try Google Translate.
And what do you get when you type the perfectly acceptable German word "Schnittfähigkeit" (that denotes the capability to cut): "cut capacity", not that far off from "cutting capacity" as shown on the label.
I speak the language fluently, and while German may not be the most elegant language, the German text on the label is acceptable.
Which is not to say that I find the quality and finish of the razor acceptable.
