    Default Something feels wrong

So I got a solingham hand made strait razor from germany. It was just under 200euro .it states it's ready to cut.however after a shave it did seem to drag a bit and burn a little whilst shaving .I shaved strait after a shower and used pre shave oil first. And to be honest my face still feels a little stubbly around the chin area. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or my razor needs a hone or it needs better stopping technique. I mean should it literally be a sharp as a disposable safety razor blade?

Ok, let's start at the beginning. Poor shaves in beginners occur due to many things, often a mixture.
    1. Shave ready straight - how do you know it was shave ready. Who sold it, do they have honemeister reputation? Likely not shave ready to begin with. Also, tell us more about the razor. Brand?
    2. Did you strop the razor beforehand - you may have rolled the edge. Most reputable sellers sell a razor where the beginner simply shaves for the first time, and learns to strop after feeling what a shave ready razor feels like
    3. Technique - no offence, but likely to be poor to begin with. If I don't concentrate, there are still difficult areas on my face to avoid a little burn afterwards. Learn about facial stretching, learn your beard direction etc etc.
    4. Preparation - did you do anything to help your first shave? Ensure face was fully softened with hot water, or other means e.g. preshave?

OK, shaving with a straight will be a bit different to a safety, but I grant you it probably means your lathering and prep are better than most beginners. The straight will take some getting used to handling - pressure, angle of attack etc.

It sounds to me like the main problem is the condition of the razor. I've never heard of hans kniebes, and would be interested to know who manufactures their razors for them (?maybe they but them unbranded from Dovo or something, I don't know).
In any case, it is probably NOT shave ready, no matter how they advertise.

If you really feel attached to THIS razor, then send it to a honemeister who will assess the razor and tell you if the steel is good.
If it were me, I would buy a shave ready from a reputable seller on the classifieds. Badgister and Rezdog have some very nice items there at the moment for under $100 USD.
I'm sorry if you feel disappointed by your first purchase. We all have made errors in buying the wrong razor, or not what we expected. A shave ready from the classifieds here will give you the best chance of experiencing what it truly feels like to use a straight
