I have not read this whole thread, it is fairly long. But I rinse the blade, the main reason being is that if the soap rinses cleanly from the blade I know my water ratio is right (for me). If it doesn't, I need to add a bit more water.

Weelll....some folk like more water and some less, but I find for me a wetter lather with a straight is better, and that that ratio for me translates into the blade rinsing clean under running water.
But a lot of the time, if there is not enough water in my lather, I can sort of feel the difference on my face as well.Mike

I wipe on my forearm. I rinse my forearm off when i am out of space or there is an iminent risk of a latherlanche.
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Rinse. I am too paranoid about dulling the blade if I try another method.
Hyperbole is highly exaggerated.

Well I have been a rinser for this very reason, but I have found out the hard way that there are way too many things to nick the blade on when I rinse. I am now in the market for a sponge, I wonder if there is such as thing as sponge acquisition disorder....
Strangely enough I never ding the larger razor, only the smaller one.Fact: Opinions are not the same as facts... Well, that's my opinion anyway

Thanked: 2Wiping was too time consuming for me, I recently started rinsing and I prefer it a lot more than wiping.

Thanked: 3795You must be in quite a rush if wiping takes too long.
The advantage of wiping, in my opinion, is that I keep my blades completely dry so I don't have to take the time carefully dying the pivot and scales after I am finished.
