Thanked: 228Raulski, I feel your pain. Tough way to learn a lesson. It does happen though. I usually just rinse, then wipe on a towel then continue shaving. It pays to have a spare though!

Rinsing or wiping you will find these things happen either way. I dropped my first razor when I was stropping it. I had to send it away for repair.
Stropping won't help you I'm afraid, as it doesn't really remove any metal. Be careful too as the nick in my blade small though it was scratched my strop.
Irony is a cruel teacher that we could all do without. Spare razors are the key. Oh no I mean razors to put in rotation (just in case Mrs Porl reads this)Fact: Opinions are not the same as facts... Well, that's my opinion anyway

Rinsing is for babies, wiping on a sponge or towel is for wimps. I run my blade through my manly chest hair, which serves a dual purpose of removing lather while stropping the edge.

Thanked: 3215I shave with two towels, a hand towel on my right and a microfiber on the left under my soap and a scuttle.
I rinse the razor under running water, only getting the blade wet, not the tang. I use a gooseneck faucet.
I then tap the spine on the towel, with the edge straight up. This will shake all the water off the blade, straight down on to the towel.
The blade may be slightly damp, but not enough water to run down the blade to the tang.
I keep my hand and the tang completely dry during the shave. When finished, I wipe the blade dry with the microfiber.
Using this technique will speed up your shave.

Thanked: 96I always rinse then wipe on a towel I put between the sink and the edge of the cabinet. Building a new house and ordered faucets the have high necks above the sink. My wife asked me why and I said if she shaved with a straight razor and had to hone out the nicks, she wouldn't ask.
