I mean, if it shaves and youre not getting irritation from it, then it must be 'right.' At least for your face. I know from experience I haven't got the light touch for that.

Are you guys talking about one continuous stroke from sideburns to neck? And here I thought I was taking long strokes going half that distance. I'll have to play with that concept a bit now...

Yes, most of the time. I can tell you that it only works with the 'right' lather. You'll find out real quick if the lather is 'right' for this merhod. For me, tallow is an essential ingredient for my shaving technique. I need the glide.

As far as strokes im kinda all over the place. With my beard growth going all over ths place i find straight down or straight up are only for the first pass to knock it down as its not wtg, or xtg or atg. Most of my whiskers grow at a 45 degree angle but in all dirctions.

Ill go down on First pass then on cheeks i go from chin to ear upwards and third pass is upward and towrds nose. My neck is down then second i have to split it into 5 different areas and 4 directions. And yesterday i figured out how to hit the spots that never come clean going from under the jaw down and in at 45 degrees. I had simpified all this into 2.5 passes but would never come out clean. Still learning i guess. Irritation for me is just more of a burn when i use the Alum. I use it just to check how i did. Not any readness or skin abrations. Ive had no burn at all with Alum only 5 or 6 times but ive only been SR shaving for 3 to 4 months. So im happy with my results.

Now that this post is off the topic of angle of blade ill stop.
    It's just Sharpening, right?

Me to, I find all blades to shave differently, 5/8, 6/8, 8/8, or larger, different razors, different angels.

I use a plumb bob to achieve the proper angle. I also shoot a back azimuth with a vintage Viet Nam era compass.

Smart a&@ comment aside, I do use a flatter angle as the shave progresses.

More currious about diminishing angles less about precise measurements.
The theory has improved my shaves.
