Default I've got to avoid using my ear as a stop

It's a small thing. A tiny red mark.

As I begin my daily shave, prior to my first stoke down my right cheek, I have apparently been using my right ear as a stop for the toe of my blade.

I didn't think much of it. The ear is conveniently in just the right position to mark the back limit of the cheek.

There is no discomfort. No dramatic capillary bleeding. Just this tiny wound.

It's a sign. A memo from the shaving aether.

"There is no need to shave that part of your ear."

Yup, and be careful around the ear lobe too. If your depth perception is a bit off it will bleed very well too. Welcome to, I suspect, a fairly large club.

I think many of us belong to that club. I have a scar there that's been re-opened a few times. Oh well, lesson learned.

A good suggestion would be to mute the tip of your razor. Good luck and smooth shaves to you.

I've cut my ear a bunch of times. Finally got past it, though it took a while.

I've never sliced my ear, but that's just because I hold my razor with the toe pointed forward, towards my nose. Then, when I get to close to my lip, that's usually when the spike bites me!

Muting the tip is still a good idea.

Aha a place for a throw back video.
It does not cover stropping on your ear however.

My ears are ok, it's been my lower lip I've cut lately. Twice now, in the last 4 weeks. Bleeds like crazy, but fortunately no scars. Happens when I place the blade to skin prior to starting the stroke. Obviously I'm moving the blade when I shouldn't be... Complacency has it's price.
