Thanked: 11Totally agree, I find it interesting that the point at which I stopped using my DE/cartridge/electric razor completely was shortly after the birth of my twins two years ago.
Razor(s) .... ££
Accessories (hones/strops etc) .... ££
Twins .... ££££££££
10 mins in the morning during a shave .... Priceless

Well....I've been fighting a scratchy throat and other flu-like symptoms for about a week now. So when I would normally do my shave (at night after a shower), I'm so tired I just go right to bed and shower in the AM before work.
...and a morning shave won't work for me now as it usually takes 30+ minutes for the shave, and I am NOT a morning person.

I don't know if this would work for you, but when I only have 5 minutes for a shave, I just do a quick pass with the grain of my hair. It's close enough of a shave for work, and looks fine. I've never used an electric though so I don't know what the comparison is. Anyway, I shaved quickly like that this morning because I was running late, and it only took about seven minutes. I guess the downside is that the stropping will be put off for later

I say , do as you please . Enjoyment of the hobby is the goal . When I first decided to try straight razor shaving , I thought I would only do it on Sundays , and shave with a disposable razor during the week . Much to my surprise , I quickly found that I preferred a straight razor shave . I had to clean up my first few shaves with the disposeable , and it was 2 months , before I could do my upper lip , using only a straight . The important thing is , to enjoy what you are doing .

Actually, I was an electirc user up until a couple months back. I couldn't find replacement blades for my electric, and was about to buy another one, when I happened upon an article about wet shaving. Why spend another $100 on an electric? I got a DE, then soon thereafter straights cast their siren song upon me. The rest is history.

Thanked: 0I think it's a natural progression once you get into the groove of things. I started off looking at DE's then decided that a straight was hella cooler than a DE and picked one up (with many more coming shortly thereafter damn RAD).
In the beginning you go slower. Prep takes longer, stropping takes longer, shaving especially for me, took longer. I started in July of last year I guess and I now shave exclusively with Str8s. Prep included I can shave in about 10 minutes.
It gets better and easier bro.
