    Default Confessions of a convert

Hi. My name is Luke, and I'm a recent convert from electric shaving. I still have trouble though....I don't always want to take the time, or can't take the time, for a proper wet shave with my wonderful straight.

...so I cheat. I clean up the lines with my electric...maybe shave the top lip so it doesn't bother my girlfriend. But I don't take it all! Just a bit, to hold me over, until I can get a good shave in.

I'm really sorry, I am. I just had to tell someone to get this off my chest...

Well, if that works for you, nothing to apologize about. Keep doing it.

On the other hand, I've found that slowing things down a bit is healthy thing to do. Its one of the things I love about straight razor shaving. If you take your time and make that extra ten minutes (believe me, its there if you want it to be) - everything still gets done and maybe done better because your more present and aware of what you're doing. Throw away the electric!!

    Just a thought.

I definitely agree with Jordan, if it's working for you, all the better. That said, I do appreciate how straight shaving makes my day slow down for a bit so I can finally get things done right, not necessarily just quickly. Slowing life down a bit allows you to enjoy it more, so that in 20 years, you know where your time went.

    Enjoy your shaving, either way.

Thanks for the votes of confidence guys, but I really wish I was able to shave more regularly. Hopefully I'll have the drive to get a good one in tonight. I really need one by now....

There are quite a few good Double Edged razor systems out there. You may want to give them a try. I shaved with one for years and always liked it. They are a time saver over the Straight and and always give me good results. It will also give you a chance to use lots of nice soaps, creams, and brushes.

Just keep on using the using the straights when you have more time or need a treat.

Dude your in big trouble now. Combining the straight with an electric. The SRP police will be making a visit to your house very soon. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes.

Seriously though like others said its better to finish with something else rather than be in a hurry with the straight but really now an electric? Try a DE you can get one real cheap and shave real fast and they are easy to use.

I also do my shaving after a shower. As for you, I think as penance you should have to give up a razor,,,to me, address will follow then you are forgiven by all.

Maybe you could get windcalmer to attach your straight to the electric. After seeing what he did in the show off your craftiness thread I am sure this would be no problem. Just dip it in some soap and let her go.
