o#m right handed and i actually find shaving the left side of my face with my right hand easier than i find shaving the right side of my face, i think its because of the hollows of my neck but the blade feels more natural of there.

    Have fun,

Quite right. I found it didn't take long at all to get good with my left.

They say if you use your left hand, it feels like someone else is shaving you...

Quite true. When I first started, a straight and my left hand (I am right-handed) were a terrifying combination. It doesn't take long for my left hand to catch up to my right. Eight or nine months in not only am I completely comfortable using my left hand, I am convinced that I get better shaves out of it.

While I agree that brushing your teeth left handed may help improve that hand's dexterity, there is really no comparison to the way that shaving over your jugular vein left-handed sharpens a guys concentration and speeds up learning!

How do you measure "success" or "precision" with tooth-brushing and weather you are making progress? There's no real "motivator" or way to measure progress, success or failure just by brushing your teeth or combing your hair!

With a straight, if you start on the cheeks where you'll probably have no problem, your confidence will get a big boost and you'll make pretty good progress---I know I have. So I say, skip all the "practice" that doesn't really compare to shaving anyway and just give it a shot--it's really not that difficult.

I have been shaving my entire face with my right hand. I used to shave my whole face with my electric razor or Bic, so I don't see what the difference is?

Gave it a shot and did my left cheek with my left hand with no dire consequences. If I thought it was no more then a parlor trick I wouldn't bother with it but I think it will really improve my shaves. As it stands now, shaving right handed, I can't seem to move all of the with, across, against that I read about on the forum. I would no doubt find I could increase my range of directions if I were to get to be ambidextrous with the razor so it is worth the effort. We'll see how it goes.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Default Harder to shave the right side with right hand

Wow! I can't trust my left hand with anything as complex as a steering wheel. But I find it a lot harder to shave the right side of my face with the right hand than the left side of my face. The grain direction of my beard makes using the blade in my right hand almost as effective as fingernails. I'm working on my left-hand skills for the right side of the neck and cheek but it's tough.

Yes, using the left hand makes it feel like someone else, but it's someone I don't trust
