In the spirit of scientific enquiry, has any one ever tried sleeping with their head under a pyramid? In order to retard beard growth, you understand....

Hi there,
First, thanks for making the effort to try this experiment, and for your report on the results when you've finished. You know, this sorta thing pyramid thing was also popular in the 70's, as was lots of unusual ideas. Matter of fact, more than a few pot growers were putting their plants inside pyramids to........well, you get the idea. Let me just also mention that I have a healthy respect for esoteric or occult forces being a reality in some forms.
I think in my case, I'm viewing this in a very skeptical manner, but I always keep an open mind. Looks like most of the posters are being very polite and non judgemental, but I gotta tell you.........it's tough for me not to be sarcastic in my posts. Hehe, maybe a few other members are biting their tongues as well. However, much as I'd prefer being funny, I'll give you a realistic way to check on the sharpening progress.
You examine the edge under a microscope before the 'pyramid immersion', and then again after the session's over with. Don't go by feel alone, since that's not as accurate as a visual confirmation.
There's a poster at SMF named 'Squire', and he will review DE blades using two methods. He'll post excellent macro pics of blade grinds (and sharpness grades), as well as actually shaving with the blades.
Ok, I've resisted my suggesting anything silly, and look forward to your conclusions.

I think a mod need to write something like "SRP is not responsible for the unreversible damages on your face after this experiment"
Make sure you keep some Polysporin Heal Fast and plenty of Vitamin E.Last edited by cybrok; 09-01-2008 at 02:39 PM.

Thanked: 271No, I meant that it was a good shave. The razor did not seem to be any different than it was before it spent 96 hours under the pyramid. But, as I mentioned, the razor has been honed and I think that it is as sharp as it gets. The pyramid is supposed to keep honed razors sharp and sharpen dull ones but no ones claims that it can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, or an excellent razor out of bad one. I would consider the pyramid experiment a success if it just kept the razor sharp without stropping for a relatively long time, let's say a month.

Thanked: 271Hi Martin, thanks very much for your comments and suggestions. I'm not ready to buy a microscope yet. Believe or not, I'm still buying hones (a Chinese 12K arrived today and I'm trying to put together a group to try one of OLD_SCHOOL's natural Japanese hones) and I haven't sold any, either. After I've satisfied my RAD and HAD, I want to buy a camera and a microscope is somewhere down the road. As far as the sarcastic comments, I don't mind. Part of good comedy is appearing like you take yourself seriously; for example, Jack Benny wasn't really stingy, it was just a persona. Personally, I'm a very skeptical person and I like to try things for myself; often, I am surprised. As I mentioned above, my wife is a colorpuncture therapist. It's a form of alternative medicine that uses the acupuncture points and colored light. It sounded really weird at first but I've tried it and it has real value. It was my wife who bought the pyramid and I thought, well, why not? Even if it doesn't work, I think this thread is already loads of fun.

That myth was already busted on MythBusters.

But there's always room for more data.
