I do not rinse my blde until I am done with it, until I am done it gets wiped on a towel. I also have a towel laid over the sink/countertop, for just in case!

I store my razors in a dartboard, usually on the bullseye if I am that lucky so early in the morning after a shave. I too like to play with my straight razors.

If you're not wide awake with a Str8 in your hand... Well... that's a Mach3 morning

So, after my posts here and elsewhere about how you should never try to catch a razor, I did just that.
I was polishing up a blade on my Swaty, which I hand hold, and trying a new grip on the stone. A few passes in, I lost my grip on both the razor and the Swaty. The razor had been in my right hand and the Swaty in my left. I caught the razor by the scales, but the Swaty fell. She now has some small chips on two corners.
As the items were falling, the dollar values and sentimental values of each flashed before my eyes, and I have a feeling that is why I went for the razor. It was my first rescale, and I'd never shaved with her yet. I've also never seen another blade from that maker. Though the Swaty had cost me more money than the razor, they are replacable and, while it is my first (and only) Swaty, it is replacable.

I caught one the other day too, didn't even think about it until afterwards, I was getting ready to shave and accidentally dropped it over the sink. Was one of my Eric Antonbergs that I finished restoring ... my thought was initially to prevent damage to it when it fell. It was closed when I dropped it but I didn't realize that until after I had caught it, still closed, then I realized how stupid it was for me to try to catch it..

I dropped a razor today behind the sink. luckily it was only a couple of inches and it landed standing up between scales and razor tip leaning against the mirror. whew
