Rough Spot
I have one spot on my face that gets irritated every time I shave. I have a Goatee, and the spot is just left of it, along the lip line. The heel of the razor normally comes down that area. Is it my angle? My razor's great, good prep, good lather. All bases covered, Other than that, I'm getting better every shave. No nicks, Although I'm having trouble with XTG, I got Lynn's DVD, Maybe I'll learn something...

Thanked: 4942Try stretching the skin up on that side of your face and see if it helps get the skin at the jawline. Also rather than going full across the grain, try to go somewhere between down and across and see if that helps. You are right about making sure the angle is good here. There is a tendency to flatten the razor out. Just another thing to think about........at least it's easier than a golf swing.
Have fun,
Lynn

I used to have a goatee, until about an hour ago. Anyhow, when getting near my lips, I find that sticking out my lips as well as stretching the skin helps. It might seem silly, but try standing in front of a mirror and moving your lips around to see what gets the skin the tightest.

Shaving the chin is going just fine (though I do have lots of contours there); the problem areas for me are between my jawline and the corners of my lips. It's not that it's hard to shave there, but the skin is quite sensitive. As always, when shaving a new area, it's important not to go full out right away. I've been going only with the grain on the area for now, and applying moisturizing balm twice a day (including after shaving). When the area feels fine, maybe in a week or so, I'll start going across the grain, and eventually against the grain.
