Thread: who strops between WTG and ATG

I do if I do an ATG pass. I usually get close to if not BBS from 1 WTG and 2 XTG passes, but if I'm not going to be able to shave for a while I'll do a 4th pass ATG. After 3 passes on a tough beard I've found that some stropping really makes that last pass smoother.

Thanked: 155I don't need to do two passes to get a great shave, so the answer is N/A.

Never have. I've been OK so far and I have a heavy beard, I get a good shadow after a few hours even after BBS.

Mostly I'm not doing stropping inbetween wtg and atg. Lately I have noticed to try stropping with some of my blades if they feel to drag even a little.
And sometimes I do it just for fun and enjoy the stropping without trying to get anything better.

I do, I just give it like 10 quick laps. But I am relatively new to this and only do it because I have heard a few guys recommend it. But I tend to get a not as good shave when I don't. But it might be because I am in a bit of a hurry those times.

I always do 10 or 13 passes in-between. It gives me a better against the grain pass.

Sometimes~ Depends on how the first pass goes. I normally avoid an ATG pass, just go twice WTG.

I don't typically strop between passes, but I have found it can sometimes be helpful. For example, the skin around my mouth is a bit more sensitive than the rest of my face. So, sometimes I shave my whole face with the grain, then go against the grain on my neck and cheeks. But, before I go against the grain on the chin and mouth region, I might hit the strop just to keep the razor as smooth as possible. This can help avoid irritation and give a more comfortable shave.
IMO, stropping is like applying aftershave balm or taking pain pills: use as necessary.
