Pirate Shaving Anyone?
OK. Through a combination of ice on the steps, my own stupidity & looking out for my daughter, I managed to dislocate my left shoulder yesterday afternoon.
What I would like to ask is, what are your experiences of shaving one handed or armed. I am about to attempt my first single handed shave & will report back after the bleeding has been staunched. Normally, I wield the razor in either hand, depending on where exactly I am shaving & stretch with the other. I just know there is going to be lots of gurning & facial gymnastics.
Barring another trip to the emergency department, more later....

You know, this is an interesting predicament. I've never thought what I would do if I only had one hand to shave and no stretching hand.

I thought this was going to be a filthy euphemism!
I think i'd go with Ben's advice & get the DE back out. We loved them once, after all!

I thought he might have joined the eye patch club.I always shave one handed and just use my facial muscles to stretch the skin. Being one-eyed if I use both hands one of them is more than likely to be in the way of my good eye.

Thanked: 335OOOH, this sounds not so swell. I hope you heal quickly and with a minimum of discomfort. In the meanwhile I second (or third, or fifth) the suggestion of breaking out the double edge if for no other reason than stropping will be a real challenge to one-hand. I had to strop with my weak hand for a while last year and I never before felt so clumsy. Best of luck to you and do the DE.
cheers,

A great opportunity to have someone else shave you
Seriously, wish you a speedy recoveryThe white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

I'd suggest that before you even lather up, you stand in front of a mirror and make faces at yourself. Seriously. This will help you determine how you can get a decent stretch. I would also suggest only going WTG. Maybe two passes. It should let you get a close enough shave to look quite clean, but don't expect (or even try for) anything near your usual standards.
