    Default Been there, cut that...

Once tried closing razor with one hand instead of both, a sort of wrist flick move at half attention. Very careless. Very stupid. Sliced directly across right middle finger, second knuckle. Grand blood flow and not a little pain. Tested to make sure tendon wasn't severed, applied significant pressure, then decided to crazy glue slice. Never did go to emergency room, but probably will have sensitive scar tissue for years. Fortunately did not cut tendon, which requires surgery.

Have to admit, I haven't shaved with straight twice since. My collection sits oiled and unused. Decided they are not worth all the inconvenience, blood and pain--just do the quick, expensive Gillette Turbo thing instead. Do not find cutting and nicking my face and other body parts either restful or refreshing. My life is too short for the kind of self abuse I was inflicting.

I am, however, grateful to this site for introducing me to vastly improved shaving technique, as well as the beauty of brushes and lathering agents, conditioners and colognes. And my razors are handsome to look at.
