Fools Pass

I can't comfortably go ATG coming up around the point of my chin. I also cannot do ATG on the upper lip. If you can and it is comfortable and effective that is great. Differences in skin and whiskers dictate what works for some and not for others. Back when I shaved with a DE I couldn't do the fool's pass with a Slant and a Feather.

Absolutely, I don't think I could have done either with out using a double handed grip as I don't think I would have been able to do the very light, controlled strokes that it allows you to do.

I'm just watching the videos and trying things basically, I can't do the 'Japanese grip' for example, though that's definitely a psychological problem!

There are so many variables, that's what keeps it interesting I guess.

Sorry to be ignorant but what is a FOOLS PASS? Is it also called by some other name?

It's called a fools pass because if you slip your nose will be laying in the sink!
It is a method that was introduced by Xman to shave the upper lip against the grain.

It was good to watch that again! I wonder how many goes you get at that realistically, before you do end up with your nose in the sink?

as many, I suppose, as you do doing your sideburns with out cutting your ear lobes off.

using two hands, I didn't even think about messing it up really. Worth a go, I think.
