Thanked: 0How often do you shave?
I shaved with a straight for the first time yesterday. I normaly shave with an electric razor everyday. If I am working, I have to shave twice a day. I normaly get a 5 o'clock shadow in about 4 hours. after shaving with the straight, I didnt really need to shave today, but I did. My skin felt really sensitive. I know that it takes a few weeks or so for your skin to adjust. How often do you guys shave after your skin is adjusted? I know that this all depends on how fast your hair grows. Im just wondering if your face gets to the point where it can tolerate being shaved everyday. I think I am going to give my skin a couple of days to recouperate. After what I consider to be two pretty succesful attempts, Im a bit raw. I am going to try to keep my face loaded up with moisturizer.
Just curious about how often your faces can take it...

Thanked: 1I started using a straight a few months ago and shave every day with it. I've found that if I skip a day, the next time it's more difficult. It took my face a week or so to adjust to using a straight, but now if I'm in a hurry and use a disposable, I notice a big difference not only how quickly I get a 5 o'clock shadow, but my face looks more dried out as well.

I've been shaving daily with no real issues other than the learning curve of cuts. Yes the skin is a bit red after shaving but a little aftershave and it's all good in a matter of minutes.

The hardest thing for me while learnig the straight razor was actualy trying not to shave every day! I think i have managed that only twice in almost two months. The second time was yesterday. I shaved every day wanting to learn faster.
Now, try and shave every second day or so, your face will be thankfull. But that doesent stop you to play with the razor gear
Also, in this period my beard got noticeably thicker and harder. I think i am gonna skip a day between shaves from now on...

Thanked: 0I shave everyday not only because I have to, but because I want to. Before changing to a str8, I tried 2 electric razors and various multi-blade razors each causing me great irritation. I could not shave everyday. I even grew a beard for a while, so I wouldn't have to shave.
I have been shaving with a str8 for about 4 months now and I look forward to shaving every morning. The first two weeks or so I had a lot of irritation, but as my face adjusted and my technique improved the irritation stopped.
What use to be a daily chore, is now daily enjoyment.

I usually shave every other day. My whiskers don't really grow fast enough to need to shave every day. Sometimes I do, just because I want to.
