I did about the same thing to my index finger yesterday. I was trying a different way to hold the razor for doing ATG on my neck (very inconvenient growth pattern) and I passed the razor from my left hand to my right hand...

while holding it a new way...

    without looking.....

Needless to say, the blade just sunk into my finger the way a zeepk razor cuts through butter.

    Hey Alpsman,

That sounds pretty painful hehe I've had a couple of cuts that I thought were really bad and going to leave a scar. I used some polysporin on it tho and there's not much if anything there that resembles a scar. Using a Styptic AKA "Chalk of Pain" really helps seal the wound and in my case kept the skin really close together so there wasn't a scar after a couple weeks.

    Glad to hear you survived,

    - Tam -

Glad to hear it's healing nicely! Cuts are bound to happen when straight shaving, it's part of the fun, right?

    Default cuts n scars

i've always followed a simple procedure...(and i've got plenty of experience in the learning curve of straights)

    1. keep your face clean, let it heal, your body does the work for you....

    2. keep the same old routine as always...

    nothing more to do....

That's right. About two weeks ago I wasn't watching where my hand was, and somehow my razor made contact with my left pinkie. I didn't even feel it, but sure enough blood started to pour out. Nothing a bandaid couldn't fix , the cut was so clean and precise it healed within a day and I couldn't even see it a week later.
I got myself on my index finger when I knocked my brush on the floor and then tried to pick it up without putting the razor down . 1/2" long cut near the base of the nail, up the side of the finger. I kept bandaids on it for 3 days, changing it each morning after showering. A week later, you can barely tell it's there.

I suffered my deepest SR cut about half a year ago. So far, it's the only scar my skin hasn't managed to disguise or absorve. I wouldn't call it a scar, it's a thin "line" only visible standing very near me.
So, yeah, it will turn in a faint linem don't worry.

I've got two or three visible scars , mostly done when I first started. However I did give myself on helluva nick last December with a Dovo 6/8 stainless , just at the side of my chin - dunno how I managed it tho . took about 90mins+ to stop bleeding . That was me applying styptic , liquid plaster and anything else I could find .. Thing is the actual nick is tiny and it never scarred

What I find more disturbing than Alpman's nick was all these people worrying about law suits after telling someone to put a band aid on the cut. That says alot on how screwed up this country is with respect to lawyers.... Maybe we should nick the lawyers and send them swimming...lol

That works for me....lol. You know everyone is so worried about getting sued they won't help anyone in trouble. That is not what this country was founded upon. The lawyers are to blame.....
