I don't think you have to worry much about the TSA taking it; their rules say it's OK in your luggage. What you DO have to worry about is some yahoo in the baggage area stealing it if they spot it on the X-ray. Or opening your bag out of curiosity and damaging the blade. I have packed mine in those lead bags used to shield high-speed photo film from X-rays, and they've never been opened.
Still, I'm not taking my Renaissance on a trip... I'll make do with a couple of Double Arrows.

Interesting thought
Looks like I am going have to check my bags. But this brings me to a new question. What about the brush, mug, strop, and soap. This is getting out of hand. What does everyone else do? Just wondering.
On another note.....
So I was driving home from work and thinking to myself. I am only going away for a few days and do not need to shave every day.
I ended up with this thought.... why couldn't I go somewhere to get a shave? I have never done it before, but have been wanting to. There is a few spots in NYC, where I live. Does anyone know of any in the Orlando area?
Not only would this solve my problem but I would cross something else off my list of things to do before I die; get a traditional shave at a barber shop.

Thanked: 0DE blades, along with blades for injector and GEM razors are explicitly not allowed in carry on luggage.
There's always somebody who comes along and tells about sneaking blades past the checkpoints. That doesn't make it OK to do so and you shouldn't be suggesting that to others. Many gents have told about the TSA pulling out the DE and checking to see if a blade is loaded in it.
The wording of the ruling is unfortunate because want to think that the part about excluding safety razors means that we can take a loaded DE on board in the carry on. It doesn't. It means that the unloaded razor is acceptable and the cartridge razors are acceptable in carry ons.
Look, it's only shaving. It's not worth breaking laws over.
For those who are confused about the TSA rule, you can call up their Customer Service Center at 1-866-289-9673 and speak to someone directly about it. I did that a few years back, so I'm sure what they'll tell you.

Traveling
Gentlemen,
I agree with our fellow shaver, JP, that the TSA rules are what they are. Why take a chance and break the law by trying to sneaking in a blade in the carry on bag? I have taken many chances in life, but only if they were worth it. This is not.
So I check my full shaving kit, which includes a straight edge and a double edge, with my bag and board the plane with much anticipating for a lukewarm cup of coffee and a bag of pretzels.
Regards,
Obie
