Thanked: 4Pre-shave moisturizing test.
This morning I decided to find out whether this was worth continuing. I put moisturizer on just the tougher half of my face (R) for the usual five minutes or so before showering and shaving. The difference was enormous. The razor glided through the prepped side with almost no resistance compared to the left side. It wasn't as dramatic on my neck as on my face, but I could still feel an easier cut on the moisturized side. FWIW, I used Cornhusker's Lotion this morning for the pre-shave. I'll definitely keep doing this for my beard (heavy, thick, and fast-growing).

Thanked: 17Preshave
Thanks for the update! I am a bliever in pre-shave routines, as well, and generally use either the Prorasso or Cremo Cream (which is a shave cream in it's own right). I don't use oils, as I don't want to gunk-up my badger brush.
A properly prepared beard is a vital key to a smooth, easy, close shave! It is hard to get that across to newbies, who may be used to rushing through the 'chore' of shaving in order to get out the door. Eventually, I hope, they all learn to love and respect and look forward to their new 'ritual' - not a chore - but a nice personal experience!
Thanks again!

Wayne,
When you used the Cornhuskers, did you wash it off or lather on top of it?

Thanked: 4Bob: I usually put it on a few minutes before I shower. I putter around during this time doing important things like breakfast or coffee. I wash it off in the shower, then out to the SOTD. The Cornhusker's works well, but seems to dry out faster than the unscented aloe skin lotion I also use.
