I am new, and yes, I shave every day with my SR. However, I do clean-up with my DE. My clean-up is requiring less and less.

More or less exactly my experience except that I shave in the morning and occasionally a quick one pass in the evening if I miss it and have to go out. The 36 hours but more comfortable after 24 is spot on for me. Still puzzles me why a straight shave lasts longer than other types though, even a DE didn't compare (though was more durable than the alternatives).

Yes, I don't know why either, but it does last longer. I still have to clean-up the tip of my chin and the curve of the back part of the jaw with my DE, but the straight shave does last longer.
I hope to kick the DE here in the near future. I just received my razor today that I purchased off of a forum member. It is definitely sharper than the one I have been trying to hone, so I am looking forward to tomorrow morning. It may be a DE-less day. Cross your fingers.

I usually go every other day, more than enough with a str8 for me, I like a very close shave, down to the root, and it takes at least a day and a half for it to grow back. With a DE I can get good results, but much better with my str8's.

Thanked: 326Welcome aboard mate
I don't know if one would shave daily with a straight unless they really enjoy it. I've sensitive skin I guess that's part of reason i don't shave daily. Further, I'm good till 3rd or 4th day-I give skin ample rest. If you really want to be technical about it my shaves last 2.5 days. My facial hair is not too thick but it's between light to moderate.
I've countless soaps to try and as tempting as it is to shave daily I won't. However I do look forward to the shave each time.

I shave every other day with a straight, but needed to shave every day with cartridges or a DE. Lucky for me my job doesn't require a daily shave, but there's no use looking like a bum either. The upper lip and tip of the chin are still trouble spots, but getting better.
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

I also shave every other day, or sometimes every three days. The straight shave is just too close to warrant a daily routine.

Thanked: 16Once a day with a straight razor is plenty for me. Of course, sometimes I wish to "play" with a newly acquired razor or hone one I haven't used in awhile. In which case, I sometimes shave again in the evening for pure enjoyment.
