Thanked: 2Daily Shave with STR8 Razor?
I'm new and normally shave every day with a safety razor. By 6pm I have a shadow and could shave again but don't unless I'm going out.
Question is do many str8 razor users shave daily with their str8's?

Thanked: 4942Shaving every day with a straight razor has pretty much done away with my 5 O'clock shadow, but if you get one, you certainly could shave with the straight again.........

Hello, and welcome,
Still, learning the art of straight shaving myself.
With cartridges I was able to get BBS shaves, unfortunitly I could only shave every other day because I would get horrible razor burn and nics, if I shaved eveyday.
When I first started using a straight I was sceptical about being able to get BBS shaves, but every day, I find, I get that much closer.
I try to do my best and shave every day with a straight razor but, sometimes it just doesn't work out. I still get razor burn and nics but it isn't bad, it usually goes away in less then a half hour.

I shave daily with a straight razor, and rarely get razor burn. I go WTG, XTG and ATG in those areas where it is called for. When I get razor burn, it is usually because I hurried the prep (softening), or hurried the shave.
Shave. If you have to shave again, shave just WTG and you should be OK.

Thanked: 235When I use a DE I get a very smooth shave, but after about 16 hours I look like I need a shave. When I use a straight the shave feels like it stays smooth for much longer.

I use a straight daily because I genuinely do get the best and longest lasting shaves from them! Even with a DE I find I have some stubble by the end of the day but with a straight I'm fine until the next morning. I can get a BBS on a daily basis now, its taken me a good few months to get there though.
I actually make a point of getting up a bit earlier just so I have the time to do it properly and I find that starts the day off very pleasantly!
I'm just looking to add to my collection so I have a few more to use. Got my eye on a DOVO Bismarck at the moment, then a TI and I'm also tempted by the Boker Edelweisse at SRD as well... Arrgh! I`m hooked! :-)

Thanked: 132457 days a week
OK every now and then I skip 1
I have tried to figure it out as to why the shave lasts longer, it is still a mystery to me, but it does.... Maybe it is the same magic that the X stroke works on, who knows...

If i shave its with my straight. I do not own a safety and have not purchased one since march. I shave everysay with my straight, once i got used to it i was able to shave: Extensively and professionally (quickly), or i can shave quickly w/o cream right out of the shower. The latter is not the smoothest shave but i can do it now without and nicks, or burn.
PS with a sharp enough razor any kind of shaving can be accomplished, and i have extremely thick and robust facial hair, its never been easy to shave my hair until my straight.
